A visionary, motivator, and activator, he possesses not only the big-picture-thinking and creative ideas to help clients aim higher, but also the follow-through and commitment to make sure outstanding results are achieved.
He gained solid insights into sales and marketing from 14 years spent in executive roles at not-for-profit charity City Impact, where he headed up the fundraising, marketing, PR and HR departments responsible for a team of 80 staff and over 600 volunteers. Starting with local and national-level community work projects, Dean quickly saw this expand into international projects in 7 different countries, traveling around the world as a key partner to aid agencies; advising on strategies for financial spend, and implementing strategic projects. During his time with City Impact, he also oversaw the completion of a 1.5 million dollar building project in Queenstown and launched a successful early childcare centre, building it up to full capacity - 100 children - with a waiting list of 200.
Dean took this experience into his next role as General Manager of Auckland-based marketing agency Ultimo Group, and used it to increase sales by 150% in just his first year. It was here that he saw a gap in the market for web development specialists who understood sales and marketing principles and knew how to create 'Demand Generation Engines' not just websites that looked pretty and had fancy widgets. This lead to Dean launching his own business Online Results.
Online Results has seen rapid growth over the past 3 years now with 163 clients across Australasia, 12 staff, and a vibrant shared office space that Dean founded in Albany called 'The Crate' creating synergy between small businesses. Online Results has found its unique place in the market as a valued partner for nationwide multi-unit corporates, developing custom online solutions to support these businesses. This has resulted in launching a new sister company, Central Station Software, to enable Online Results to deliver a comprehensive software service for its franchise clients.
It's been an exciting ride for Dean, and his wife Maria and four children aged 6-13 are a daily source of joy and support the whole family got involved in his winning entry for the 2014 Business Blueprint Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He finds plenty of ways to stay motivated and active, and is currently on the board of Recovery First a programme that integrates former criminals back into being a healthy part of society, and sticking to an intensive fitness regime in preparation for completing a 500km cycling challenge in Thailand this year, raising money to build orphanages.
